When we face the unknown it’s human to panic to fear and that is the situation we find ourselves in, the feeling that no matter which way we lean we can’t be sure of the outcome. Many individuals, families, companies and countries are facing uncertain future today due to Covid-19 pandemic.

The challenge we are facing today is the realization that nothing is absolutely certain in life, having a good job isn’t assurance of a secure future. The pandemic has exposed the fragile state that business operate in, countries like the G5 have been brought to their knees as their  hospitals  are overwhelmed by the influx of patience overflowing their hospitals on daily basis. It’s true that no one was prepared for this; even with the latest technologies that we enjoy today.

The loss of life is regrettable much more when it could have been avoided, through proper planning and coordination among various agencies and authorities. Patience are dying on hospitals corridors because there are no enough beds, doctors, nurses and other frontline workers to manage the influx. Lack of basics PPEs have caused frontline workers to pay the ultimate price while trying to save lives. It’s a painful picture to imagine but that is the reality that we have faced and still facing today. The number of families who have lost their loved ones or their source of lively hood because of this pandemic is alarming and our world as we know it has changed forever.

Since the break of Covid-19 in late December 2019 much has been done on every front, our scientist today know more about the virus than the early days, there is much progress made in order to find a viable vaccine or medicine, reports coming from the scientific community is encouraging to say the least and as the world remains hopeful, we need to do more and help in improving the survival chances, it’s encouraging to see young entrepreneurs leading the way by making face mask, crafting hospitals beds, ventilators and other innovative ideas that are helping our frontline workers tackle the pandemic better.

Should SMEs Act now or Sit back and Wait should be the question we need to ask ourselves. As entrepreneurs we are the backbone of any economy, we can make the new normal; normal. We can create jobs to revamp economies to greater heights than before, offer solutions to  problems that are emerging and partner with governments to build the necessary technologies that is needed to prepare us avoid such disasters or even handle them better in future. A wait and see situation will not help us through this pandemic, it will only worsen the situation, it’s time we open our minds and see the opportunities that can be tapped and forge a new world.

Lets’ ACT and KNOW and create a new normal for all Humanity
